Honored Riders ride for free on LTD
Lane Transit District’s Honored Rider pass offers free fare to older adults in our community. It is available to those 65 years and older. Local seniors and LTD say the program offers a lifeline to help older residents live as independently as possible and get to where they need to go. To get your pass, visit the Eugene or Springfield Customer Service Center with a valid ID and fill out a short application.
How LTD strives to make buses accessible to all
LTD was the first transit company in the nation to have its entire fleet of buses fully wheelchair accessible. That commitment to making transit accessible to people with disabilities continues today so that all passengers can feel safe, secure and comfortable. As a musician, Harlan performs all around the community, and he often relies on the bus to get to gigs. He is visually impaired, but that doesn’t affect his ability to access public transportation. He says LTD is very supportive of people traveling with disabilities. Some of the ways LTD makes its buses more accessible include ramps, power lifts and low-floor buses that allow for easy boarding.

Language not a barrier for accessing LTD services
Lane Transit District actively works to remove language barriers for riders. Madeline Saldana, an LTD transportation and outreach marketing specialist, says as the Latinx community continues to grow in Lane County, LTD is focused on accessibility. With the click of a button, the entire LTD.org website can be translated into a variety of languages, and most of LTD’s printed materials, including its rider’s guide and information on its free transit pass programs, are available in Spanish. Those and similar efforts help riders like Bianca Hernandez and her grandmother, Araceli, feel comfortable and safe taking the bus everywhere.
